Hey everyone, back with another Pokemon tutorial! This time we will be learning how to draw Chikorita. Chikorita is a grass type Pokemon from the second generation. She is #152 in the Pokedex, and also happens to be adorable. So let’s grab our pencils and learn how to draw Chikorita!
To get Chikorita started, we will first need to draw a large bean shaped oval that is divided by a horizontal and vertical line.
Along the horizontal line, draw Chikorita’s large oval eyes with a big pupil inside each one.
Next we will need to draw Chikorita’s wide open smiling mouth. She is always smiling, so drawing a big “U” shaped mouth will give us that happy look that she is famous for.
Next, draw two triangular shapes near the bottom of Chikorita’s body for her front legs. Also, draw a rounded claw at the end of each of Chikorita’s legs.
Following the same steps, draw Chikorita’s rear legs directly under her body, and also a small triangular shaped tail behind her. And just like her front legs, Chikorita should have rounded claws on her rear legs as well.
Next, draw a long curved line extending upward from the top of Chikorita’s head. This line will be our guide for drawing the leaf that sits on top of her head.
Following the curved line from the last step, draw the outline of Chikorita’s leaf. The leaf is very big, almost as big as Chikorita’s entire body.
Next, draw a ring of circles wrapping around the middle of Chikorita’s body. She doesn’t really have a neck, so this ring of circles helps to define Chikorita’s head from the rest of her body.
Finally, give Chikorita a little color. Of course since she is a grass type pokemon, she needs to be colored in various shades of green. Give her some bright red eyes, and she’s all done! I hope you had fun drawing Chikorita with me. If you enjoyed this tutorial, don’t forget to share it on social media and come back for more. Happy drawing!
