Groot! Everyone loves him, but today we’re going to learn how to draw Baby Groot, the pocket-sized reborn version. If you’ve seen Guardians of the Galaxy, then you know that Baby Groot has all the attitude of his bigger version in a much cuter package. Now it’s time to grab that pencil and let’s draw Baby Groot!
To get Baby Groot started we will first need to draw the outline of his large head. Underneath that, draw an oval which will become Baby Groot’s body.
Next, draw a thin neck connecting his body and head. Also, draw Baby Groot’s left leg extending outward from the oval of his body. As you can see in the image, you can make your lines a little wavy to give the illusion that his body is uneven and made of wood.
Next, draw Baby Groot’s rear leg a little bit shorter than his first leg. Make sure that you make this rear leg a little shorter that way it looks like it is sitting behind his body just a bit.
Next, draw Baby Groot’s arms extending from the top of the oval, all the way to the bottom. As you can see in the image, the arms should end at the line that I drew near the bottom of the oval.
At the end of each arm, draw five thin fingers for Baby Groot’s hands.
Moving back up to his head, draw Baby Groot’s almond shaped eyes resting along the horizontal guideline of his head.
To finish Groot’s face, draw a thin “U” shape for his smiling mouth, a line above each eye for an eyebrow, and draw a jagged line running across the top of his head to create the look of tree bark.
To keep the look of tree bark going, draw several jagged lines running across Baby Groot’s body. You don’t need to worry about making these lines look perfect. They should look a little jagged and organic.
Finally, give Baby Groot a little bit of color and he’s all ready for his next adventure! I hope you had fun learning how to draw Baby Groot with me. If you enjoyed this tutorial, be sure to come back for plenty more, and happy drawing!
